THE CREATIVE DANCE

How To avoid “The Creative Dance”

The Dance Begins…

Potential Client: “Hey, I love your work! How much would you charge for a video?”

Creative: “Hey, thanks for your kind words! What’s your budget?”

Potential Client: “We’re currently working on a budget, so if we could get a price that would be great!”

Creative: “Okay, great! What type of video are you looking for?”

Potential Client: “Just some videos?”

Creative: “…”

And the dance continues…

How To Avoid The Dance.

As creatives, we understand that you need to get a price for your projects, but what if I told you there was a way to avoid “The Creative Dance” next time you need a videographer or photographer for your project? It really is simple, don’t just go in and ask for a price without doing these 4 steps first:

STEP 1:

Define the Project: this means dates, timings and locations. - This allows the creative to work out travel costs and whether or not they are available.

STEP 2:

Define the Deliverables: What type of video(s)/ photo(s) do you need? Where will the content be used (Website/Social Media)? How many video(s)/ photo(s) do you need? - This helps the creative work out how much time the shoot and edit will take, it also helps them work out what equipment they need to bring for your project. Not to mention if the creative needs to bring in specialists to help with aspects of your project.

STEP 3:

Define a Price Range: If you define a range that you or your company are happy to spend, that helps the creative create a more bespoke quote for your project. It also allows the creative to let you know if they can realistically create the content you need within that price range.

STEP 4:

Work with the Creative: By working with the creative to create shot lists or storyboards, you enable the creative to get an even clearer idea of what content you need and how you want it to look. In the shop you can get free templates to help with all of this!

Getting The Best Bang For Your Buck!
